How does all this work?

The Voxalis Hosted IP Telephony Service is delivered using the Mitel 3600 Hosted Telephony Platform. The 3600 is a network-based VoIP system specifically designed for providing "telephone system" type functionality remotely for multiple customers across many sites. It is installed in a secure data centre at Telecity in London's Docklands.

Boucon has selected the Voxalis Hosted IP Telephony Service as it guarantees carrier-grade call quality (the same quality as a traditional phone system). No other UK hosted telephony company can claim to offer the quality and reliability of the private access network unique to this solution, which replaces ISDN circuits.

Voxalis is working to deliver more exciting applications over their access network from a central core, such as call recording. These will further enable customers to reap the rewards of the exciting developments that this new technology can deliver and ensure that they always have access to leading edge telephony features, now and in the future.

This service works by installing phones at your offices that connect back to the Mitel 3600 system at Telecity using broadband. These phones are grouped together by company. This results in the creation of your own mini voice network. These phones behave as if they are all sat on one phone system, regardless of whether they are all in the same office, or are spread across many offices throughout the UK.

Voxalis can rapidly deploy hosted services using their private access broadband network which gives the ability to offer small businesses a compelling alternative to buying or upgrading their traditional phone system. The Mitel 3600 offers enhanced network services such as auto attendant, extension dialling, directory services, and messaging.

The 3600 also offers multi-site customers a compelling centralised solution including single digit auto attendant, extension dialling across multiple sites, as well as simple centralised management.

Voxalis offers the first true mainstream end-to-end VoIP solution. They are the first service provider in the UK to provide the complete service all under one roof. They provide the managed network, the handsets and routers, the VoIP switch for all incoming and outgoing calls and web based management for each user and administrator of the system. Voxalis are the first UK VoIP company to deliver service over a private IP access network meaning guaranteed call quality.

The engineers continually monitor the core systems. If a software problem is detected, depending on the gravity of the problem, a switch-over may result. A switch-over is when the second server in the pair takes over the primary functions so that there is no loss of service.

An optional Mitel IP Programmable Key Module (12- or 48-button) extends the capability of the Mitel 5224 IP Phone with additional buttons and LED indicators. These 12, 48 or 96 additional personal keys can be programmed as feature keys, speed call keys, direct station select keys, or line appearance keys.

Conference Unit

The Mitel 5224 IP Conference Unit is a full duplex, high quality conference unit that uses acoustic beam-forming technology for superior performance. It installs in seconds, plugging into the adapted headset port and power port of the 5224 IP Phone to provide full conferencing and telephony functionality while eliminating the need for an additional LAN port.

System Features Include:

	Direct dial number facility Your direct dial number allows callers to dial-in straight to your extension.

	Personal voicemail box for users with personal greeting Greets callers with a personal message when you are busy and stores their spoken message for later retrieval.

	Caller Line Identity The caller's number appears on your LCD screen before the call is answered.

	3-Party Conference calling A feature that connects three phones so that three parties, whether in your office or on an external phone, can participate simultaneously in a phone call.

	Dual line phones Each phone provides the user with two lines so that an incoming call can be seen or an external call made even when you are already on a call.

	Call divert to voicemail Diverts your calls to your personalised voicemail when you are busy.

	Call forwarding - user controlled Using your web interface or programmed key on your handset you can quickly and easily set or change the number to which your calls are forwarded when you are away form your desk.

	Busy lamp field indication of other users' status An individual light next to each of your programmable buttons telling you when your colleagues' lines are busy.

	Park/Retrieve functionality Put calls on hold and lets you retrieve them from any other extension in your own personal network.

	Handset paging facility Broadcast a voice message to all selected handsets in your network.

	Hunt Groups/ Call Pick up groups Set the order in which extensions answer incoming calls. Unanswered calls are put through to the next extension in the group until it is answered.

	Intuitive screen based prompts to control call handling The LCD screen on your phone will display all the information you need to easily use the functions available to you.

	Advance Features
	Mobile Twinning Using the Web interface, a user can set their desk phone up so that a mobile device rings simultaneously with it when their Direct Dial Number is called. The caller's number is passed through to the mobile handset so you can see who's calling. The call can be seamlessly swapped back to the Mitel IP handset mid-call, by pressing an associated button on your desk phone when you get back to your desk. This allows you to carry on your conversation from your desk phone and the caller has no idea that you have swapped.

	Auto-Attendant An automated answering system that uses voice prompts to guide callers and transfer calls to the desired extension or department. As many company or personal Auto-Attendants can be set up as you like.

	Teleworker This allows users to deploy an office extension in their own home using their existing home broadband connection. The user can log in either at home or at one of the phones in the office.

	Web Management The system is managed through a web administration interface. You can choose to manage your own system or Boucon will manage this on your behalf. There are two different levels of access according to the function and permission level of each user:

	Tenant Administration Allows one or more designated users at a customer site to configure the system to satisfy the individual company requirements. This level provides the ability to 'reach through' to the User Administration level.

	User Administration Allows individual telephone users to customise their phone features and to use the company directory.
